Parable of the Righteous Nag or God Loves a Nudnik

Nagging is not good behavior. In fact, nagging can kill a relationship, especially a marriage. But did you know Jesus’ followers have a license to nag our Heavenly Father? Your prayer life may never be the same!

The Miracles of Hanukkah

Hanukkah is famously known for the miracle of a single day’s worth of oil for the Temple’s Menorah lasting 8 days. But there is a greater Hanukkah miracle where God made much out of little. And, that kind of miracle God still performs in our day.

Do Not Grieve the Holy Spirit

Paul gives us a direct warning about “grieving the Holy Spirit” in Ephesians 4:30. But what does it mean to grieve the Holy Spirit? Pastor Jay takes us on a verse by verse study through Ephesians 4:17-32 that shows how important this warning is as well as Paul’s encouragement to live right.

Being a Daniel in a Nebuchadnezzar’s Court

Many people in our nation are chafing under leadership that appears to us as overreaching and abusive. Some see government leaders as opponents to fight against. But is there a better way? Yes! This message shows us how we can be people of God under leadership that is diametrically opposed to us and our faith.

The Feast of Tabernacles - Rejoice!

The Feasts of the Lord, especially the Fall Feast of Tabernacles, are known as The Season of our Joy. The theme of Trumpets is REPENT, the theme of Yom Kippur is REDEEM, and the theme of Tabernacles is REJOICE! But what does rejoice mean? Why should we rejoice and how? Listen for inspiring insights.

The Feast of Trumpets - Repent

On the Biblical calendar, we’re in the High Holy Days. The 21-day holiday period starts with the Biblical Feast of Trumpets. It’s a remarkable time to consider its main theme – the call to repentance. Do you hear God’s shofar (ram’s horn trumpet) calling for a change?

Yom Kippur, The Day of Atonement - Redeem

On the Biblical calendar, we’re in the High Holy Days. Yom Kippur is in the middle of the 21-day Fall Feasts of the Lord. It is a solemn time of atonement for sin and drawing close to God. The main theme of this observance is “Redeem.” Pastor Jay looks at the Old Testament atonement ritual and how it was practiced in Yeshua’s day. Most important, we see how Yeshua IS our atonement and way back to God.

Are We in The End Times? Markers and Signs Part 5

Are we in the End Times? Not according to Daniel. Pastor Jay completes his survey of the Book of Daniel (Chapters 10-12) and solidifies the markers that will clearly tell us when the final 7-week Tribulation begins, leading up to Jesus’ return and God’s kingdom beginning on earth. We may not be there yet, but we are getting close!

Are We in The End Times? Markers and Signs Part 4

Are we in the End Times? The answer is to look for the MARKERS God has revealed through His Word to prepare people for the End. Pastor Jay continues his series with Daniel 9. In chapter 8, Daniel shared his revelation of what the End Time Antichrist will do following the pattern of Antiochus IV, a despicable king of the Greek empire whose reign covered 175-163 BC. In chapter 9, Daniel reveals a fascinating timeline. The first phase of this timeline covers 69 weeks of years (483 years) from a Decree to rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah’s arrival. Messiah’s death will be the confirmation that the first phase has been completed. Then phase two of God’s plan of redemption through Israel and the Jewish people begins 7 years before the Son of Man (Yeshua) returns. Yes, there is a gap in between the end of the first phase and the second. What’s important are the MARKERS that signal the beginning and end of each phase. Take listen and find out what to look for!

Are We in The End Times? Markers and Signs Part 3

Are we in the End Times? The answer is to look for the MARKERS God has revealed through His Word to prepare people for the End. Pastor Jay continues his series with Daniel Chapter 8. In this chapter, Daniel introduces us to a model, a template, a picture, of the future Final Ruler, the Antichrist. God revealed through Daniel that at the End the Antichrist will do the same things the Greek king Antiochus IV Theos Epiphanes (God Manifest) did when he conquered and savaged Israel from 167 to 164 BC. This is a crucial message to hear to be prepared for what is to come!

Are We in The End Times? Markers and Signs Part 1

Are we in the End Times? That question has come up frequently due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, wars and rumors of wars, gigantic locust swarms stretching from Africa to Asia, and other End of Days-like signs. How can we know for sure? People throughout the last 2,000 years of history have pointed to natural disasters and signs in the sky as harbingers of Jesus’ return. How can we know for sure? The answer is to look at the MARKERS God has revealed through His Word to prepare people for the End when God’s Kingdom covers the earth. Pastor Jay begins a new series separating prophetic Markers from Signs as revealed through the Book of Daniel and Yeshua’s Olivet Discourse (His End Time teaching on the Mount of Olives).

Where Do We Go When We Die?

Undeniable truth of life! Barring Jesus' return, there ain't nobody getting out of this life alive! Yes, everybody WILL eventually die. Watch a movie you saw as a young kid and note how many of those actors and actresses are now gone! When we're young, most of us thought we're invincible and indestructible. Then reality hits! A family member or a close friend dies. If it's an untimely death in our eyes, that is they seemed way too young, the reality check is often very distressing. Then comes the question ... where do we go when we die? The Bible has the answer. However, to many Christians even the Bible seems unclear. Heaven, Paradise, Abraham's Bosom, Hell, Gehenna, Sheol, the Pit ... how many Heavens and Hells are there, anyway! Take a listen as Pastor Jay shows how all of these names come together in one afterlife with only two choices. Curious?

Small Group Talk

Many Christians regard the large group church services as their main source of spiritual life and encouragement. On the other hand, some Christians believe their main source is their individual time with the Lord. However, there is a vital missing component; a component that fits neatly between the individual and the large group gathering. That is the small group. In fact, Yeshua’s followers not only attended synagogue, they bolstered their spiritual lives by meeting in small groups in homes. This small group network was vital for the health and growth of the church.

Did You Experience a Spiritual Lockdown?

Did you know that during the recent COVID-19 lockdown around 40% of Christians did not access online church services even though they were offered? For three months, 40% of Christians in the United States did not attend a church service. That raises a question … what did they do for their spiritual lives during that time? Did their spiritual lives remain the same, lose vitality, or grow? If we look at church services as the main “boost” to our spiritual lives, we are in trouble. Why? Because large group services were never intended to be our source of spiritual growth. Take a listen and prepare to be challenged.

Our Declaration of Dependence

It is a valuable and moving experience to hear the United State’s Declaration of Independence read during the 4th of July. The words are deeply inspiring and remind people of the very real oppression the American colonies were experiencing under the tyranny of King George III. There are remarkable lessons we can learn when we look at God’s deliverance for all people from the tyranny of an evil prince, Satan, in light of the Declaration of Independence and need for Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

Equally Yoked - Proper Partners For God’s Work
It is GREAT that individual Christians, churches, Christian organizations, and denominations are teaming up with other groups to address the social ills of our day! But are all such teams and alliances good from a biblical viewpoint? Paul gave his struggling Corinthian congregation a vital principle to help them stay on track with God's work - "Do not be yoked together with those who do not believe" (2 Corinthians 6:14). Paul calls such a team-up between those who believe and those who don't as being "unequally yoked." This is an interesting principle. What does it mean and why is it so critical at this time of Christians working together with other groups? Take a listen as Pastor Jay reveals the meaning and gives a startling assessment of the well-known Black Lives Matter organization.

No Room for Racism Among God's People

The terms "racism" and "racist" are thrown around with abandon today. It's become so common that the words are losing their meaning. What is race? Where did the races come from? What does the Bible have to say about races and racism? Some people have claimed the Bible's teachings as justification for racism, prejudice, and discrimination. Is this true? Does the Bible really justify racism? If not, then how should the Disciple of Yeshua live a racism-free life? Take a listen as Pastor Jay tackles this subject head-on!

Shavuot and God's Jewish Way of Evangelism

Evangelism! The word that sparks fear in the hearts of most Christians. Say "evangelism" and the sweat starts, the knees begin to quake, the mouth dries, and the tongue cleaves to the roof of the believer's mouth. But God has a way to tell people about the "Good News of the Kingdom" through you in a way that has nothing to do with sharing the Four Spiritual Laws. In fact, it's as easy as living day to day. Take a listen and see how the day of Pentecost (Acts 2) is far more than you've been taught!

Yeshua, our Firstborn King and Priest: What It Means to Us

What does it mean to us that Yeshua is our Firstborn elder brother, our High Priest, and our King? A great deal more than just a theological exercise. Our Firstborn Elder brother provides, protects, and redeems us. Our High Priest's work restores us to our Heavenly Father's presence. And our King is a benevolent monarch who loves His subjects and expects them to live according to the laws of His kingdom. Settle in. Yeshua, our Firstborn King and Priest

When Christians are asked who has the task of Israel's priesthood, some have no clue, but many answer, "The Levites." Correct! When Christians are asked who has the task of Israel's kingship, more of them know and answer, "The tribe of Judah!" But this was not always so. In fact, from ancient times it was the Patriarch of the family that served as God's kings (family rulers) and priests. And since the patriarchy of the family fell to the firstborn son upon the father's death, the firstborn son served as family "king" and priest. This was the original design from the start and will be at the End and into eternity.

Yeshua and the Jewish People: Our Firstborn Elder Brothers

When you mention "firstborns" in families, many often think of the firstborn son (or daughter) who is destined to follow in their father's footsteps. It's almost an unspoken rule that this is their destiny. It doesn't always happen, but the expectation shows that the firstborn idea is deeply embedded in the human mind and heart. Firstborns are very important! But we can't understand what it means to be a firstborn in a biblical sense unless we go back to ancient Israelite culture and family dynamics. When we understand more fully what it means to be a firstborn in ancient times, it lights up our understanding of what it means for Yeshua and Israel to be God's Firstborn Sons. Intrigued?

Let's face it. No one like tough times. Trials and troubles are not just a "pain," they can be downright PAINFUL, even bringing us to the point of despair. We've all been through them. Some of us are in at least one right now! However, James (Ya'akov, Yeshua's half-brother) has a different take on it. In James Chapter 1, we aren't to despair when faced with a trial. We are to be full of joy! Yeah, right. Passover: Do This in Remembrance of Me

When Yeshua said those words, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19), he wasn't talking about Communion as many Christians believe today. In fact, Yeshua wasn't starting a new thing at all. He took an old, well-known event and its commemoration - the Exodus and the Passover Seder - and gave it its full meaning. Passover is a grand picture that reveals God's plan to bring His children back to Himself. When we understand some of the themes of Passover, we'll appreciate what Yeshua did for us in a whole new way. Communion will never be the same!

People Gone Wild!

Proverbs 29:18 is one of the most misinterpreted, misunderstood, and misapplied scriptures even though many Christians know it by heart. They focus on "Without revelation people run wild," but ignore the second half of the verse, "but one who follows divine instruction will be happy." This verse has been memorized by many as "Without a vision the people perish" and they use it as a justification to spend a lot of time, energy, and talent wrestling with church "vision-casting" and mission statements. While these things are good things, they have a faint secondary application to this verse. The truth of the verse just might step on your toes. You are forewarned!
