Call to Worship
Ma Tovu (Numbers 24:9 and Jewish tradition)
How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob,
Thy tabernacles, Yisrael.
And in Thy great compassion I will come into Your house,
There I will bow, there I will fear Thy holiness, O Lord.
Thy holiness, O Lord.
The Shema (Deuteronomy 6:5-9; 11:13-21; Numbers 15:37-41)
You have brought us near to Your great Name forever in truth, to offer praise-filled thanks to You and proclaim with love that You alone are the Lord!
Blessed are You, Lord, Who chooses His people with love. So with one voice we proclaim our faith and commitment to You!
Shema Israel, Adonai Eloheni, Adonai Echad
Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Baruch shem k’vod, malchuto, l’olam va’ed.
Blessed be the name of His glorious kingdom forever and ever.
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.
Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart.
Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise up.
Bind them as a sign on your hand, fix them as an emblem on your forehead, and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
If you will only heed His every commandment that I am commanding you today, loving the Lord your God and serving Him with all your heart and all your soul,
Then He will give the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, and you will gather in your grain, your wine, and your oil; and He will give grass in your fields for your livestock, and you will eat your fill.
Take care or you will be seduced into turning away, serving other gods and worshipping them,
For then the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you and He will shut up the heavens, so that there will be no rain and the land will yield no fruit; then you will perish quickly off the good land that the Lord is giving you.
You shall put these words of mine in your heart and soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand and fix them as an emblem on your forehead.
Teach them to your children, talking about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise up.
Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land that the Lord swore to your ancestors to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth.
The Lord said to Moses: Speak to the Israelites and tell them to make fringes on the corners of their garments throughout their generations and to put a blue cord on the fringe at each corner.
You have the fringe so that, when you see it, you will remember all the commandments of the Lord and do them, and not follow the lust of your own heart and your own eyes.
So you will remember and do all My commandments, and you shall be holy to your God.
I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. I am the Lord your God.
Mikamocha (Exodus 15:11)
The Lord, our God, is true.
We bless the Most High One Who is blessed.
Moses and the children of Israel proclaimed it in song to You with great joy and they sang,
Who is like You among the gods, O Lord?
Who is like You, majestic in holiness?
Awesome in glory, working wonders,
The Lord shall reign forever and ever.
Praise and Worship
Blessing before the Word (Matthew 5:17-19)
Jesus said, “Don’t assume that I came to abolish the Torah and the Prophets. I did not come to abolish but to fulfill them.”
“For I assure you: Until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or one stroke of a letter will pass from the Torah until all things are accomplished.” “Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of the commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever practices and teaches these commandments will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Meaning: abolish – misinterpret, fulfill – interpret properly)
Blessed are You, O Lord, our God, King of the universe,
Who has chosen us from all people,
And given us His Torah, and given us the Good Prophets,
And given us the Good News of Messiah.
Blessed are You, O Lord, Giver of the words of truth!
